The Supreme alto saxophone “Modèle 2022” celebrates the centenary of the first saxophone made in the Henri SELMER workshops in Paris in 1922. This new version of the Supreme alto benefits from the same acoustic, mechanical and ergonomic qualities, but is distinguished by a unique, innovative and original design. It embodies and celebrates the creative and festive spirit of Paris in the Roaring Twenties.

Produced in a limited series of 641 units -in reference to the number of parts required for assembly-.

The unique aged matt gold finish is highlighted by a contrasting palette of blacks on the guards, the grenadilla wood medallion on the body and the mother-of-pearl. The motifs of its engraving, decidedly Art Deco, evoke the Paris of the Roaring Twenties, which saw the birth of the first SELMER saxophone..

Henri SELMER Paris made saxophone history when he presented his first model in 1922, the “Modèle 22”.

The “Modèle 2022” pays tribute to the generations of craftsmen who have perpetuated a unique and precious in our workshops in Mantes-la-Ville, where for the last hundred years all saxophone models have been designed and manufactured. We also celebrate the artistic richness of the 20th century and, of course, the saxophone, which waited patiently until the 1920s to fully blossom through different musical repertoires..

 

The finish is a beautiful dark gold matt lacquer, an exclusive finish that creates a unique light and reflections. The design of the gold-plated bell body is reminiscent of the microphones of the 1920s. At its centre is a black grenadilla wood medallion with the gold-plated SELMER “S”. The pads are made of black leather and the metal resonators with their wavy geometry are lacquered. For durability, the two thumb rests are gold-plated.

Each instrument is unique, with a limited edition numberat the junction of the neck and the body.

The engraving pays homage to Paris and its monuments (especially Montmartre, where Henri SELMER Paris was founded), to the musicians of the past and the future, and to the Art Deco artistic movement.

The Supreme “Modèle 2022” alto saxophone is delivered with a Concept mouthpiece, a Supreme strap and a set of accessories designed specifically for this limited edition.

 

  • Specific “Modèle 2022” case manufactured by BAM. Compact in size, it has a large storage space and two removable interior pockets. The shoulder straps offer great comfort.
  • Concept mouthpiece, a high acoustic precision model. Comes with a matt black chrome-plated cap and a ligature.
  • SUPREME strap with a gold-plated metal slider in the shape of the Henri SELMER Paris logo marked in black.
  • Protective cloth made to the shape of the case: the front is made of microfibre marked with the engraving pattern “Modèle 2022” and the back is made of silk. It is placed over the instrument in the case to ensure maximum protection for your saxophone.
  • Swabs for neck, with engraving pattern.
  • Grenadilla plug with a brass ring engraved “Modèle 2022”.
